Profile

Wayne was raised travelling the Top End of Australia, living in zoos and Lion parks.  His riding career started at the age of eight which also included riding `Nic' the Buffalo (of Crocodile Dundee fame) under his father's guidance at Yarrawonga Zoo.  Growing up amongst crocodiles, playing with lion and tiger cubs as a child formed his love of animals.

Wayne has been training horses professionally since 1986. Originally from the Northern Territory where he trained horses for a multitude of events including dressage, western pleasure, reining, hunter under saddle, hacking, polocrosse, and many more, even through to harness horses.  He then moved to Woodford, Queensland in 2000.

Wayne has trained many horses for AQHA Hi Point state awards and champions and is a Multi State and National Reining Championship winner.  He has also shown many horses to Registers of Merit and AQHA Champion Status.

He and his classic palomino stallion 'Freckles King Pickens' were not only selected to represent the NRHA at Equitana Brisbane 2002 in the Main Event but Freckles King Pickens brought the crowd to a frenzy at the QRHA State Championships in May 2003 with a breathtaking bridleless performance to become the Open Freestyle Champion and the highest scoring run for the show.

He conducts clinics at Caboolture for the Queensland Reining Horse Assoc. and various clinics throughout Australia as well as instruction on an individual basis. In 2006 two of his regular students took home three championship buckles from the QRHA State show. One of these students the previous year campaigned her horse to Top 10 finishes in the three Open Non-Pro Futurities she contested and it was her first futurity horse!

Wayne is an accredited NRHA Continental Judge and is committed to breed, show and train horses for Reining as well as to continue to start horses for other events.
